how to live...

Valle Escondido Preserve believes in, incorporates and hopes to inspire sustainable practices including permaculture and green technology. In this effort towards self-sustainability, we invite you to explore different design methods and infrastructure adjustments we have implemented in this carbon-neutral goal at Hidden Valley Farm.

The practice of permaculture guides us to mimic the patterns and relationships we can find in nature and can be applied to all aspects of human habitation, from agriculture to ecological building, from appropriate technology to education and even economics.'

David Holmgrem the cofounder of permaculture defines the 12 principles of permaculture as,

“Thinking tools, that when used together, allow us to creatively re-design our environment and our behavior in a world of less energy and resources.”

Fundamentally people enjoy experiencing the beauty of natural environments; in fact, we are nature.  We believe that people if given the opportunity, will protect natural environments and engage in regenerative practices to support life on earth. As a tourist destination, Valle Escondido inspires visitors to remember we are nature.
